Hello self-care explorer ninjas, how are you doing? I hope your week goes well so far and that you have made some progress in letting go of your self-judgement. My experience is that it needs time to let it go.
Since last week I stayed aware of my more negative approach to anything I do but at the same time reminded myself that I actually can change things and often have taken a conscious decision on how to deal with something rather than just go with what I always do.
I wonder, how you deal with self-judgement: is it a problem for you? Or are you one of those who are naturally positive and supportive of yourself? And if so, how do you do it. We would love to hear from you.
I know that “Self-Appreciation” has a bad reputation. It sounds like being arrogant or too much up of one’s own bum. But I believe it is one of the most important things you could do for yourself and for others too: because if you are happy with your achievements you feel more energized and in turn can do more for the people around you.
That is why I highly recommend you to allow yourself to celebrate your achievements every morning with your cup of tea or coffee. Just try it out and let me know what you experienced.

Pondering the Self-Appreciation Cuppa
Last week I was pondering my tool of the self-appreciation cuppa and the Mindful Music Monday Mug. I love it that I can be interactive with more than one blog platform users with Disqus on Bee SelfCaring however I feel since a while that I would like to do something different with this blog event.
So I pondered if there is a possibility to share a cuppa live with each other. At first, I thought about doing a meetup here in a cafe but I have no readers here in the area. Most of you are all over the world. Then I figured we live in the area of Skype and Google Hangouts. So I updated Skype on our laptop and had a look if you could do a group on there and alas you can.
You can either have a video chat or writing and even share videos and files in a group. Isn’t that gorgeous?
Mindful Music Monday evolves
My idea is to share Mindfulness, self-caring and music ideas on Mondays in a post and then meet up on my Skype group on Tuesday to encourage each other and have a good time. We can have a chat, share music and enjoy a good cup of tea, coffee or whatever you prefer.
The point is that not everybody can go out and meet up with their friends in a cafe. Some just don’t have the money or a possibility to get to a cafe and some just prefer to stay at home. Yes, I know that might not be the most healthy way of being but the reality there are people out there who just can’t get out and I believe that should not be a reason why you can’t have a chat with a friendly soul and good cuppa at home.
So, I am going to do a trial run with the Skype group next Tuesday at 1pm GMT (London find your time here) and I invite you to join me and share a cuppa.
Mindful Music Monday Mug on Skype
You do not need to have the Skype app on your laptop but I am not sure about a mobile. Just follow this link and the instructions given. If you join with a laptop it asks you if Skype can access your microphone and camera to have a video chat but you can refuse and we just write. Without an account, it looks like you can only share files from your laptop but with the app, you can add add-ins like YouTube videos or Bing searches.
Don’t worry if you are new to the medium. So am I :-). So far I have only chatted a couple of times with friends but never in a group. Also, don’t worry about how you or your room looks like. We are not here to show off our home & country homes. We are here to share a self-care journey and explore ideas.
It’s a trial run so please bear with me and my moderation. Like you, I will have to figure things out. But I believe together we can do that!

This blog event is called Mindful Music Monday Mug but this week is more about introducing a new feature of MMMM. But I don’t want to leave out mindfulness as I believe it is one of the most effective ways of learning to care for yourself. That is why I introduce you to “Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World”. This is a book that was suggested to me by my GP when I struggled with my mental health last year. They also have a page with the same name which explains what mindfulness is, offers free meditations and resources to bring you forward on your mindfulness journey. The book has helped me a lot to see my mental health issues in a new light and start to believe that I really can get control over them. My journey isn’t over yet but Mindfulness is certainly one of my most effective tools beside the self-appreciation cuppa.

I have been experimenting with music a lot in the last couple of years to get me into the mindful state of being. Music seems to help me to let my “inner chatterbox” go and just be. That is why I encourage you to explore meditation music to enhance your self-care experience.
